A Little Distracted
You may have seen the footage of a woman walking straight into a shopping mall fountain in Pennsylvania while being distracted with texting on her mobile phone. It made national news as well as being seen by over 1.5 million people on YouTube.
Cathy Marrero revealed her identity on Good Morning America and said she doesn't find the video very funny and planned to sue the mall after accusing the staff of laughing instead of helping her out of the water.
Speaking of the moment she unwittingly took the plunge, she said: "I saw the water coming at me, I could see the pennies and nickels at the bottom of the fountain and then I was in it."
Security surveillance showed Marrero walking in a straight line while texting on her phone, oblivious to what was around her - or directly in front of her. She then fell into the cold water before struggling to get out and making a swift exit.
Morrero said, "I usually don't walk and text, but I did this day. I won't any more." She said she never texts while driving.
Texting while driving has been banned in Britain and several U.S. states. In another article in the Houston Chronicle, legislators across the U.S. are pushing for bans on iPods and cell phones as people are being distracted and caused car accidents and pedestrian traffic fatalities.
What is the cause of your distraction? Distraction often time leads to anxiety and anxiety leads to anger, resentment and fear. They keep you from experiencing God's best. If you are distracted, take some time to get refocused. Learn to sit still and listen. God may be trying to get your attention.
But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Luke 10:41-42
