What are you thinking?
Proverbs 23:7 says, "For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Marcus Aurelius, the last of the good Roman emperor in the 2nd century, said, "The most important things in life are the thoughts you choose to think."
What we choose to think about is very important because what we think about is what we do and become. If we think good thoughts, we will do good things. On the other hand, if we choose to think negative thoughts or thoughts of evil, then these thoughts will find their way into our words and actions.
When you think about it, every temptation begins with a thought and every act of goodness begins with a thought. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to take captive every thought. How do we do that? We make a conscious decision on what to feed our mind and what to starve it. Paul also says in Romans 12:2, "Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think."
So today, you can let thoughts of faith, hope and love fill your mind or you can let thoughts of fear, failure and despair get you down. Make a choice to believe the best about the future that God has planned for you. Choose to expect that God has your best interest at heart and that He's in control of everything. You can also choose to think the best of others and be a source of encouragement to them.
Your life will become what you think about.
